The percentage of readers continue declining every year. Technological innovations altered reading habits to an extent. Nowadays many modes exist to stay entertained, then why should we read books? People often ask me “Why you read this book, better watch the film. Books are boring.”I have no answer for this except tell them to read books because only a reader can understand the difference.

Reading will widen your mind space and helps to think more rationally. Whether fiction or non-fiction, books inevitably carries valuable life lessons. Reading helped me to accept people in the way they are and embrace their uniqueness. Individuality makes everyone unique and special. Moreover, it improves your perspective towards good-evil things. There are no right or wrong, what matters the way we perceive it.

Reading will help you to familiarise with diverse culture and traditions across the world. I have born and brought up in India, so the cultures outside “my world” are alien to me. Books by various authors from diverse nationality and culture introduced me to those parts of the world which were unknown. See, a world tour might not offer you with such experiences as books bring to every reader.

Time travelling a theory under construction, but I will tell you a secret, readers can time-travel. HOW! By reading classics and dystopian novels. If there were no English classics, no one could have experienced the charm of Victorian England. Likewise, the dystopian novels steer you to the future. Hence one able to experience the past, present and future through books.
