TITLE: THE DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL

AUTHOR: ANNE FRANK

GENRE: NON-FICTION, DIARY.

GOODREADS SYNOPSIS:

Anne Frank’s extraordinary diary, written in the Amsterdam attic where she and her family hid from the Nazis for two years, has become a world classic and a timeless testament to the human spirit. Now, in a new edition enriched by many passages originally withheld by her father, we meet Anne more real, more human, and more vital than ever. Here she is first and foremost a teenage girl—stubbornly honest, touchingly vulnerable, in love with life. She imparts her deeply secret world of soul-searching and hungering for affection, rebellious clashes with her mother, romance and newly discovered sexuality, and wry, candid observations of her companions. Facing hunger, fear of discovery and death, and the petty frustrations of such confined quarters, Anne writes with adult wisdom and views beyond her years. Her story is that of every teenager, lived out in conditions few teenagers have ever known.

MY REVIEW:

“The Diary Of A Young Girl” is a diary kept by Anne Frank while she was hiding with her family from the Nazis in a secret place in Amsterdam. Anne Frank considered being the most discussed Jewish victim of the Holocaust.
Anne recorded her life at Annex as well as her thoughts regarding relevant topics in her diary. It was apparent from the writing how much did the Jews suffer during the Nazi reign.
Even though in the middle of the tensions and chaos, Anne made her life happy at Annex. I think if she survived the Holocaust she would be an astonishing author; because the diary amazed me by the writings of this 14-year-old girl, who had a clear perspective towards life. Every girl could deeply connect with her diary, or I would say “thoughts.”
Anne has discussed her emotions and mental conflicts with utmost clarity, which will help teenagers in bringing out answers to their several questions. She has included opinions regarding her feelings, physicality and desires which considered as taboos at that time.
The original diary was in the Dutch language; Anne called the diary “Kitty” a secret friend to whom she could share anything. At some point, I have seen myself in the book. So it touched me to the core. I wish I had read this book in my teenage.
Anne Frank was an optimistic girl who had a positive outlook even in the middle of chaos. The book is a real motivation for those who’ve been enduring critical situations in life. More than a diary it is a self-realisation journey of a girl.
I feel sad about Anne and her family, who had suffered frequently for the insane reforms of a madman (Hitler). Unfortunately, there are still many “Anne Frank” exist around the world suffering from wars. Let’s hope for a better world with no bloodsheds and hatred.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone, especially teenagers.
