My Review

The book is all about personal branding. It emphasises the importance of personal branding in the corporate field, especially for those who are freshly graduated from college. Mainak Dhar tries to bust a few myths around personal branding, for example, a majority believe personal branding is for extroverts, which is not true.

With his lucid writing style, he let the reader understands the need for personal branding in this digital era.

Since the author has years of experience in the corporate field, he shares with us how the modern hiring process works. According to the book, if you are looking for a corporate job, it is necessary to have a well-curated LinkedIn profile. Fill your digital place with content that speaks about your uniqueness and value.  In short, leave your digital footprints on social media platforms especially on LinkedIn.

Branding of a product or service is what makes it different from its competitors, likewise, personal branding serves the same idea. Though securing degrees from prestigious universities aid you in getting the first level entry, it is your point of difference that decides whether you are a good fit for the job.

What I like about the book is, it gives a clear guideline to the reader on how one should find their inner strength, passion, how one may choose an organisation to work for and how one should prepare the resume effectively focussing on point of difference rather than the point of parity.

As per the study, the average initial screening time for a candidate’s resume is just 7.4 seconds. Within that 7.4 seconds, your resume makes a strong impression that the recruiter will want to learn more about and decide to send you an interview call letter. How your resume can grab recruiters attention within that 7.4 seconds? Read the book!

Overall I liked the book and would recommend it to the young graduates and students out there. It qualifies as a personal development guide, so a general audience also can grab the copy.
