For me, 2018 has been a great year on reading-wise. I couldn’t be happier. I read 40 books in 2018, 10 books among them are going to be my all-time favourites. Majority of them has published in the earlier years. These books taught me several life lessons which I could hold through my entire journey.
1. A man called Ove by Fredrik Backman
A story of a grumpy old man, Ove, who hate technology and believes those are just a waste of time. The story gets funny, emotional and touches the heart at the end. It taught me sincere relations are eternal and one must always cherish them.

2. Goat Days by Benyamin
A realistic story inspired by a real incident. Oh boy oh! Be ready to cry out if you will ever read this. The main plotline of the story is the protagonist who accidentally traps in a desert as a goatherd and forced to work as a slave. You will learn how to be optimistic even in the middle of chaos after reading the book.
3. Poonachi or The story of a black goat by Perumal Murugan
It’s a translated work from the Tamil language. Poonachi is an orphan goat who happens to be adopted by an old couple. An excellent book revolves around the life of this goat. You could expect the unexpected! If you read this book, you will know that imagination has no boundary.

4. Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Do I need to say anything about this book? So as its title implies, this story revolves around Pi who sails through the Pacific ocean in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger after the shipwreck. You would get the courage to face hardships of life after devouring this book. Yann Martel is a master of storytelling. The message in the book worth a million.

5. I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
It’s the autobiography of the Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai who bravely fought against the evil doings of the Taliban at Swat. While we are living in a world where women have always been regarded as the weaker sex, this kind of books is inevitable. I would say a must-read for every girl out there.

6. The diary of a young girl by Anne Frank
First things first, I adore Anne Frank. She was a Jew who had gone into hiding in a secret place because of the anti-jew attitude of Hitler. The diary has details of events that had taken place during the second world war. Moreover, the book is Anne Frank’s journey to self-realisation. All teenage girls should read Anne’s diary to know themselves.

7. The white tiger by Aravind Adiga
Do you want to know about “real” India? Then go for it. The Man Booker Prize-winning novel relentlessly exposes the darkest areas of India where filled with corruptions and violence. I would recommend this book to everyone especially to non-Indians who watch Bollywood films and misunderstand the Indian lifestyle. (HAHA!)
8. The kite runner by Khaled Hosseini
Khaled Hosseini has been my favourite since I read “A thousand splendid suns” in 2017. His every book has a compassionate element which melts away readers’ prejudiced opinions. The stories have been well knitted with the thread of human relations, so is “The kite runner”. It is the story of a father-son relationship. You could feel the warmth and love of this connection while reading.

9. The hunger games (first book) by Suzanne Collins
A sci-fi fantasy trilogy which keeps you on your toes and OH! god! Katniss Everdeen is the bravest protagonist I have ever read. Even though she is brave and smart has flaws too; so it makes the story one step closer to reality. I loved the trilogy especially the first book.
10. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert .T. Kiyosaki
A book on personal finance teaches you how to invest wisely. It has a million worth of information on how to make money without work hard but smart. I was sceptical whether it was a boring read. But fortunately, I ended up loving it.
Do check out my post on Rich Dad Poor Dad.
So, guys, these are my TOP TEN of last year. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day.
